My second experience of racing was fun, originally the course was supposed to be out to Snapper Island and across to Low and back to start but the wind was Shite according to the sailors aboard.  Then we muffed the start but once the famous Code Zero was up we began to fly!
on line we came in fifth on handicap we came in fourth and it was only seconds between boats on handicap!!
We crossed the line last but soon passed four boats but the leading pack we didnt quite catch although we certainly closed the gap- well except for that bloody Nacre of Mal's which finished an hour before the next boat LOL
I am getting this!!
and I didnt even  mind not getting to see my quilts in situ at the Airing of the Quilts! next year maybe

Big couple of weeks

Carnivale starts tonight in Port Douglas and I am sailing on the weekend in the Clipper Cup after experiencing my first race last Sunday!

Helen and Mick have invited me to sail on Ice with them in the past and realised I was keen to learn more.
Mick sailed Ice down to Yorkey's last Saturday with Garry and Ken and Helen and I drove down and sailed back with them to Port on Sunday.
We had a knockdown because the kite got an override and couldnt be eased quick enough to prevent us hitting the water. I got a close up view of Ice's new antifoul paint job as it happened but we survived.
We won the wine glass award and bent the spinnaker pole but it was fun
I got a bit more sun than I would like because I wore a cap so I have to set up my boring old sun hat and needed a good luck charm to I made another butterfly LOL

Finally!

Some dry weather- after the fizzer of a Wet Season last year this year has made up for it in spades!!  As my dear mate informs me we had 5 dry days in March and up until last Tuesday 19 days straight of rain which made getting anything dry almost impossible.
Added to that I had no phones until yesterday from about the 29th of last month although I did still have the Net.
Had a lovely Easter and went to the pictures to finally see Avatar.  I wasn't that enthused about the idea but my companion had been raved to about it so we decided to check it out!
The plot was clunky but the visuals were STUNNING.  Cant wait to see how this technology is used by someone like Tim Burton. James Cameron's films are entertaining but there is no subltety in his plots.

Back to blogging and life

Back again folks
some of you know that life has been a bit of a roller coaster for a while but things are finally starting to even out. a little anyway.
I have been doing some work again finally and when I get my stuff together will post some bits and pieces but I am preparing a discharge quilt for Airing the Quilts during Carnivale

I am dyeing and preparing silk for another project and so far have managed to sell the samples I have made so I have to make more LOL

The Time Has Come

Been a while I suppose
still plodding along and starting at last to get some creative juices flowing.

At present my photography is the largest part of creative practise I am engaging in but here's hoping for the future

Doubts

The past few weeks have been kind of rough, I havent felt in the slightest bit creative and was getting really depressed by the entire issue. Slogging away with drawing just to keep up my 'creative fitness' as one of my tutors referred to it was SUCH a chore. So much so I have actually been wondering if I have made the right decision to move this far from family and friends.
I am hoping it is just the post move blues because in real terms I have been on the run since we got up here and not had much time to get creative- that and the fact there have been outside influences on my movements around the district. The aforementioned Wicked Witch has played a role in my mood, being accosted by strangers and abused for no real reason is not pleasant but that seems to have settled down. Her toxic presence is set to be removed from this sphere in about 8 days- and yes I am counting but I am not the only one doing that! ;-)
But maybe I am rediscovering the reasons I moved to this part of the world after my sailing evening on Wednesday- not much wind so a boring sail for the white knuckle dudes aboard but I loved it.
Good company and a brilliant light show and being able to photograph Samantha at long last in good light was a bonus
